Mildred, An Aspiring Pediatrician

My name is Mildred. I am 15 years old, and my hobby is drawing because it’s an escape from reality, where imagination comes to life. It’s a way to express emotions, pay attention to detail, and find solace in solitude. My favorite sports are volleyball and football.

aspiring pediatrician

I am in Form 1 studying at Kijabe Girls High School. I am currently the class monitor and my work is to maintain order, communicate with teachers, and represent the class. My favorite subjects are Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. because they are fascinated by the natural world and how it works. Exploring biology, chemistry, and physics can provide a deep understanding of the universe, from the smallest cells to the vast cosmos.

I aspire to be a pediatrician because, ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated by doctors and how they help people get better. I especially love seeing kids smile and feel better after a visit to the doctor. I want to be a pediatrician to help kids grow healthy and happy, just like my role model, Dr. Benjamin Spock. I’ll be able to teach their parents how to keep them safe and healthy,

I’ve always dreamed of visiting Thailand. The country’s rich culture, stunning beaches, and delicious cuisine have captivated me for years. I’m particularly drawn to the ancient temples and historical sites, which offer a glimpse into Thailand’s fascinating past.

By supporting Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, you’re not just helping an individual; you’re investing in a future leader who will make a positive impact on the world.

Carolyne’s Apprenticeship in Fashion Design and Tailoring

Carolyne joined the NRCF program in 2012. Starting her education at Jagiet Academy which is one of our focus schools, she began her primary education. She then continued to Mirithu Girls High School, where she completed her secondary studies.

Her passion for community work led her to pursue a certificate in community development at Kabete National Polytechnic. After graduating, she worked as a case manager in the NRCF office in both primary and secondary departments. But her curiosity and drive didn’t stop there. When she learned about the organization’s apprenticeship program, she eagerly enrolled. For three months, she trained under a master craftsman in fashion and design, sharpening her skills with dedication. Upon completing the program, she was gifted a sewing machine, a tool that would help shape her future.

Today, Carolyne is a skilled tailor and fashion designer. She has embraced the digital age by selling her creations online and has transformed her life in ways she once only dreamed of. She now supports herself and her siblings and helps her mother with rent and groceries.

Carolyne’s outgoing and friendly nature perfectly complements her career in fashion and design, where her warm demeanor and excellent communication skills attract loyal customers. She is deeply grateful to the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF) for their unwavering support and extends her heartfelt thanks to her sponsor for guiding her through her entire academic journey. For Carolyne, this experience is a permanent testimony of hope, and she hopes that NRCF continues to support other vulnerable students for years to come.

Teresiah’s transformational journey to culinary mastery

Teresiah’s journey at Ngong Road Children’s Foundation began on the 12th of August, 2006, when she joined the program that would forever change her life. Starting at Jagiet Academy, she later moved to GSU Primary, where she completed her primary education. After passing the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination, she stepped into Enna School for her secondary education, full of dreams and determination. In pursuant of her passion, Teresiah joined Mountain Top College to study Hotel Management, a field that had always captivated her heart.

Upon graduating, Teresiah’s culinary talents took her to various esteemed hotels, Kisii Mart Supermarket, IBIS Styles, Waterbuck, and White Rhino hotels, where she sharpened her skills as a chef and pastry expert. Today, she proudly serves as the Chief Cook at Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, a place that feels like home, where her journey first began.

Throughout her life, Teresiah has benefited immensely from the opportunities provided by the organization. Programs in Sexual Reproductive Health, computer classes, and medical care all played a vital role in shaping the person she has become. But it was the summer camp that truly brought her the most joy—a memory she cherishes deeply.

Growing up, Teresiah was a reserved child, keeping to herself and having only a few close friends. But over the years, she blossomed into a self-principled, organized, and responsible young woman. Now married with two beautiful children, she reflects on her journey with profound gratitude.

Teresiah is deeply thankful to Ngong Road Children’s Foundation for holding her hand through every step of her educational journey. Her heart swells with appreciation for her sponsor, who never wavered in their support. Without this unwavering support, she knows that attending school would have been an impossible dream, given the challenges her family faced. As she looks back, Teresiah’s heart is filled with hope and a wish that the organization continues to uplift and empower many more needy students, just as it did for her.

Reagan’s Passion for Math and Medicine

My name is Reagan, I’m 13 years old and currently in 8th grade at Ndurarua Primary School. I have a passion for swimming, dancing, and playing soccer. Among my favorite subjects are Math, Science, and Agriculture.

Sponsor Education & Healthcare

As a junior math teacher for my peers, I felt honored when our teacher selected me for this role. I devote much of my free time to helping my friends with mathematics. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and aiding others in understanding the subject.

I want to become a doctor in the future because I have a strong interest in science and a curiosity about the human body and its functions. Healthcare is the most important industry and the demand for skilled healthcare professionals is constantly increasing. There is an ever-growing need for doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals, meaning there are plenty of job opportunities in this field.

Sponsor Education & Healthcare

I want to travel to Kos, Greece in the future. The birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of medicine, must be on every doctor’s bucket list of travel destinations. This island is approximately 112 square miles and has ancient monuments, beautiful beaches, and a rich history. The Asklepion sanatorium, built in the 4th century, is the most renowned site in Kos, featuring thermal baths and an intricate piping system that ensures a steady supply of clean spring water.

Ngong Road Children’s Foundation has played a pivotal role in helping me achieve my goals. By providing education mentorship, and school resources, you can empower young individuals like me to reach our full potential. Your investment in education and healthcare will create a brighter future for our community.

Joshua’s passionate artistry and adventure

I am Joshua, a passionate artist and a lover of adventure. I am not your average 21-year-old. My heart is overflowing with love for animals, and my home is a haven for a furry, nine-breed pack of canine companions. Their incredible sense of smell, forty times more powerful than our own, never ceases to amaze me. Imagine being able to detect scents so faint they’d be invisible to us; that’s the amazing world dogs live in, a world that inspires my fascination with science.

But my talents extend far beyond understanding the wonders of the canine nose. When the world feels overwhelming, I find solace in drawing and the invigorating thrill of a hike. These activities allow me to escape the daily grind and reconnect with myself.

Looking back, I remember my time at Jagiet Academy fondly. There, my love for science blossomed, fueled by a natural curiosity and a joy in making new friends. This passion for discovery led me to pursue a course in mechanical engineering at Don Dosco Trade School in Embu. Cars hold a special place in my heart, and the intricate workings of these machines ignite my desire to learn and create.

Kuwait is a destination that sparks my adventurous spirit. This unique blend of modern marvels and ancient treasures beckons me to explore. From the breathtaking views atop the iconic Kuwait Towers to the bustling energy of Souk Al-Mubarakiya, a traditional marketplace overflowing with local treasures, Kuwait promises an unforgettable experience. A glimpse into the country’s rich past awaits at the Tareq Rajab Museum, while evenings offer a vibrant nightlife scene to unwind and soak in the atmosphere.

My story is a testament to the power of following your passions, whether it’s the companionship of animals, the beauty of art, the thrill of discovery in science, or the excitement of exploring new lands. With a curious mind and a kind heart, I hope to be an inspiration to others within the NRCF program and beyond.
