Joshua’s passionate artistry and adventure

I am Joshua, a passionate artist and a lover of adventure. I am not your average 21-year-old. My heart is overflowing with love for animals, and my home is a haven for a furry, nine-breed pack of canine companions. Their incredible sense of smell, forty times more powerful than our own, never ceases to amaze me. Imagine being able to detect scents so faint they’d be invisible to us; that’s the amazing world dogs live in, a world that inspires my fascination with science.

But my talents extend far beyond understanding the wonders of the canine nose. When the world feels overwhelming, I find solace in drawing and the invigorating thrill of a hike. These activities allow me to escape the daily grind and reconnect with myself.

Looking back, I remember my time at Jagiet Academy fondly. There, my love for science blossomed, fueled by a natural curiosity and a joy in making new friends. This passion for discovery led me to pursue a course in mechanical engineering at Don Dosco Trade School in Embu. Cars hold a special place in my heart, and the intricate workings of these machines ignite my desire to learn and create.

Kuwait is a destination that sparks my adventurous spirit. This unique blend of modern marvels and ancient treasures beckons me to explore. From the breathtaking views atop the iconic Kuwait Towers to the bustling energy of Souk Al-Mubarakiya, a traditional marketplace overflowing with local treasures, Kuwait promises an unforgettable experience. A glimpse into the country’s rich past awaits at the Tareq Rajab Museum, while evenings offer a vibrant nightlife scene to unwind and soak in the atmosphere.

My story is a testament to the power of following your passions, whether it’s the companionship of animals, the beauty of art, the thrill of discovery in science, or the excitement of exploring new lands. With a curious mind and a kind heart, I hope to be an inspiration to others within the NRCF program and beyond.

A school leader and a visionary pioneer in medicine

My name is Cheryl and I am 15 years old. I have a strong passion for reading novels and cooking. I live with both of my parents and two wonderful siblings. Currently, I am a student at Our Lady of Mercy, studying in Form 2. I am also honored to serve as my school’s assistant dining hall captain. My favorite subjects are biology and geography, and I am an active member of the debates club. In my free time, I often dedicate myself to studying. I also make sure to set aside time for entertainment, particularly on Saturdays.

In the future, I aspire to become a doctor because of my deep compassion for people. I want to be able to contribute to society by providing care and support to those in need. Furthermore, I hope to be able to fully support my family and live a fulfilling life. Additionally, I dream of the opportunity to travel and work in India, as they have some of the best doctors and medical equipment in the world. This would be an incredible experience and a chance to expand my knowledge and skills.

In addition, I would like to extend an invitation to sponsors and donors to support the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation. Your contribution can significantly impact the lives of underprivileged children, providing them with education, healthcare, and a brighter future.

Sheila’s story; Coding, football, and future aspirations

My name is Sheila, and I am 18 years old. Growing up, my life was very challenging. There were few opportunities available to me, and the future seemed unclear and scary. Everything changed when I got the chance to join the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation. The foundation did more than just provide me with a safe place to go to school; it gave me hope and a real chance to succeed. They encouraged me to dream big and believe in a better future.

Ngong Road Children's Foundation success story

At the Elimu Hub, I discovered a love for coding—a new world of logic and creativity. I also love playing football with the other kids. Football isn’t just a game; it lets me forget my worries and teaches me about teamwork and perseverance. I never thought I would become a class monitor or a club representative. However, through the Life skills training by Ngong Road Children’s Foundation gave me the confidence to step out of my comfort zone and believe in myself.

I’m currently making my way to university, facing the choice between pursuing a degree in Economics or Computer Science. Both paths seem to hold promising prospects. I am grateful for all the experiences and opportunities that have come my way. Looking ahead in ten years, I envision myself achieving financial stability, providing support for my family, and actively contributing to the betterment of the community.
