Turner Cobden Joins Board

Turner and his wife Emily first got involved with Friends of Ngong Road when they became sponsors in 2008. Almost immediately they became involved with August Camp under the encouragement of Turner’s father-in-law, Tom Gleason.

Turner’s first job was working at summer camps in New York near his boyhood home.  He was happy to work with Tom to help create the  August Camp Program in Nairobi. He has traveled to Kenya three times so far to help direct camp.

Additionally, Turner and Emily offer a partial travel grant for individuals that want to contribute to camp but might not be able to make the journey on their own wherewithal. Turner joined the board effective July 1, 2015, to focus on operational improvements and potential infrastructure growth.

He is currently working as the COO at a small e-commerce company in the Boston, MA area focusing on shipping and logistics solutions. The Friends of Ngong Road welcomes Turner’s agreement to join us, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with Turner as we devise new approaches to our operations and infrastructure.
